Election Day Update: Defend Democracy

Pledge to Defend Democracy

Following the 2020 election we need to be ready to defend our democracy. Trump has openly suggested he will not concede, and his campaign has sown misinformation about the integrity of the election in an attempt to distract and confused voters. In order to ensure an honest count and to defend our communities, we need to be ready to mobilize in the weeks and months following the election. This will take all of us. Take the pledge to defend democracy here.

Nov. 8th 5-6:30pm Count Every Vote, Stop a Coup: A Post Election Crash Course Register here
By Nov. 8th – if every vote hasn’t been counted – we’ll be in the streets to stop a fascist power grab and build real democracy. We’ll need ALL OF US – so get the skills you need to organize your people and build a mass movement. Using techniques drawn from labor and community organizing, we’ll learn how to support each other through uncertain times, communicate in a way that sparks empowerment instead of demoralization, and build a team of trusted friends that can mobilize quickly and take meaningful action. This training is for EVERYONE, whether you can be at events or will join from home. The training will be adapted to reflect Bay Resistance’s mobilization plans post-election.

Additional resources:

  • Know Your Rights and De-escalation 2.0: Hosted by Count Every Vote, Beautiful Trouble and ACLU. This training is for folks who will be showing up to demonstrations, and want to upskill their de-escalation skillset through the ABC’s of de-escalation response. The second part of this training will focus on how to be thoughtful and creative about actions taken at protests, as well as actions that help keep events safe and calm. Finally, this training will also include a segment on Know Your Rights.
