We defeated the first of Trump’s #SwampCabinet

On Monday, we marched in Oakland. On Wednesday, we phone-banked in San Francisco while fast food workers occupied Republican senators’ offices. By the afternoon, we were victorious. Faced with our relentless opposition all across the country, Trump’s pick for anti-labor secretary, fast food CEO Andrew Puzder was forced to withdraw his nomination. Together we defeated the first of Trump’s #SwampCabinet.

We can keep winning. And in the face of recent ICE raids terrifying immigrant communities, we must keep fighting to keep all families together. Can you join us for our next #ResistTrumpTuesdays to fight mass deportations? Stand together for sanctuary next Tuesday 11:30am at the Oakland federal building.

And save the date for a special Bay Resistance launch on March 4th where we’ll gather, hold mass trainings, and build the resistance!

As we protest against anti-immigrant policies nationally, there’s something we can do right here in the Bay Area. It’s simple: Sheriff Ahern of Alameda County needs to stop collaborating with ICE. Our local law enforcement should not be the agents of Trump’s inhumane anti-immigrant regime. Will you stand with us next Tuesday to put a stop to Sheriff Ahern’s pro-Trump, pro-deportation agenda?

Just this week ICE arrested Daniel Medina, a young father granted permission to live here under Obama’s DREAM Act for immigrants brought here as children. Join our ICE response volunteer team now so we can defend people like Daniel Medina.

Here’s more ways to defend immigrant communities:

  •   Share the hotline! SFILEN has launched their new hotline: call (415) 200-1548 in case of ICE activity in SF. They have language support in Spanish, Arabic and Chinese and can provide legal and community defense. For those outside SF, call the ICE out of CA hotline at 1-844-878-7801.
  •   Share this infographic from the California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance! With all the ICE rumors circulating, it’s helpful to learn how to fight ICE with power not panic.
  •   Fight for immigrant workers! Join ILWU and FAJ’s Know Your Rights training on workplace raids and workplace immigration enforcement, Saturday 2/25 from 9am to 12pm at the Carpenters Local 713 Hall, 1050 Mattox Rd. in Hayward.

And speaking of winning, let’s defend our healthcare from Trump AND win guaranteed healthcare for all. Rally with the nurses on Wed 2/22 in Sacramento as they move forward for single-payer healthcare.
