Stop the Muslim Ban! Stop detaining immigrants and refugees at SFO!

As Bay Resistance, we unite in defense of all our communities. Please support the Arab Resource & Organizing Center and the Muslim community by sending an email now to stop detaining immigrants and refugees at SFO and other airports. There are reports of immigrants being held at airports now after Trump’s executive order Friday banning entry from Muslim countries. #NoBanNoWall!

From the Arab Resource & Organizing Center:

Dear community and allies,

We are living in uncertain times but we are supported by and in solidarity with the many, many communities being targeted by the threats and policies coming from the Trump administration. We will stand together in resistance against all forms of bigotry, racism and anti-immigrant criminalization. We will also stand together as we call on people everywhere, at every moment,  in every place to resist Trump’s fascism, racism, and xenophobia.

Through an executive order issued on Friday, January 27, 2017, Trump barred citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US for at least the next 90 days, including immigrants from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. Trump also stopped the admission of all refugees to the United States for four months. A senior White House official said that this is likely just a first step toward establishing a broader ban.

We are already hearing reports of the immediate implementation of Trump’s executive order at airports in the United States and for international flights that stop in the United States. It was reported that two Iraqi immigrants were detained at New York City’s Kennedy airport and a family was detained at San Francisco’s international airport last night.

We are asking people throughout the SF Bay Area to contact the following offices and public officials to demand non-compliance with the executive order.

We need you to send an email now. Please also make calls:

To SFO Airport Director, Ivar Satero: (650) 821-8211

To SFO US Customs and Border Patrol Office: (650) 837-2876

To SF Board of Supervisors: (415) 554-5184

Please make these points in your phone call and/or emails:

  •   We urge you to refuse compliance with the ban on refugees in a stand against racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia.
  •   We urge you to refuse compliance with Trump’s executive order banning immigrants from 7 Muslim-majority countries.
  •   We, in the San Francisco Bay Area will fight to remain a sanctuary city and will not allow people to be racially profiled based on national origin. We have no tolerance for racism, xenophobia or Islamophobia.
  •   We know that this family, like many people, are fleeing for their lives in large part because of US policy and military action in their countries of origin. Turning them away, could mean a death sentence.

Thank you for taking this action against racism and for justice.

In struggle,

The Arab Resource and Organizing Center
