Solidarity with Trans People #WontBeErased

When trans people are under attack, what do we do? STAND UP, FIGHT BACK. #WontBeErased #HellNoToTheMemo

Bay Resistance stands in solidarity with our trans siblings everywhere. In the face of the Trump administration’s attempt to eliminate the fair treatment of trans people under the law, we show up for basic human decency, equality, and justice.

By proposing to legally define gender as only male or female, unchangeable, and determined by genitalia at birth, the Trump administration is threatening the lives of millions of trans people – and threatening to take away trans people’s right to equal access to health care, housing, education, and more.

In this moment, we especially need to show up for the people who are most impacted – including trans people of color, trans women, trans immigrants, trans people with disabilities, working class trans people, and people who are locked up.

This foolish, outrageous political attack will not fly. We won’t let it.

As the National Center for Transgender Equality points out: this proposed rule “would not eliminate the precedents set by dozens of federal courts over the last two decades affirming the full rights and identities of transgender people. It would not undo the consensus of the medical providers and scientists across the globe who see transgender people, know transgender people, and urge everyone to accept us for who we are. And no rule—no administration—can erase the experiences of transgender people and our families.” Our real strength is the everyday resilience of trans people and our determination to win justice!

Bay Area, stay ready to send in public comment on this outrageous proposal! In the meantime, reach out to your trans friends and support them. Reach out to your cis friends to help them show up in solidarity. Take care of yourself. Educate yourself if these issues are new to you.
